Governors
Governors are a voluntary body of people who guide and support the strategic direction of the school. They are members of the school team and their contribution to the running of the school is highly valued.
Our Governing Body helps our school run more effectively and ensures that the views of parents, staff, and the local community, KCC and the Church are properly represented.
About the Governing Body
We run a Circle model with no committees and all governors attend the FGB meetings, which are held seven times a year. Parent Governors are elected. Staff Governors, Local Authority Governors, Co-opted Governors and Foundation Governors are all appointed.
The Governing body is responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality education. Together with the Head Teacher, who is responsible for day-to-day management, the Governors set the school’s aims and policies.
The role of the governing body is a strategic one. Its key functions are:
-
To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
-
To ensure accountability for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff.
-
Monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives.
-
To oversee the financial performance of the school and ensure value for money.
-
To support and challenge and undertake the role of ‘critical friend’.
They also carry out a number of other important duties, which include:
-
Determining how the school’s budget is spent.
-
The appointment of school leaders.
-
Hearing appeals and grievances.
-
Forming policy on the school’s curriculum and other activities.
-
Setting standards for pupils’ behaviour and discipline.
-
Making sure school buildings are welcoming and safe.
All communications should be addressed to the Clerk to the Governors, Mrs F Sharp.

There are 10 people who make up the Governing Body of Egerton Church of England Primary School. They are current parents, representatives of the local authority, foundation members, co-opted members and school staff.
The governors of Egerton Church of England Primary School believe it is important that boards reflect the diversity of the school communities they serve. Diverse boards promote inclusive school environments and provide diverse role models for staff and young people.
